About the Tour

HJGT – Who We Are:

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the age of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to provide superb hospitality and make every event a memorable one. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.

Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the southeast, with stops in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina and North Carolina.  Golfers who participate on tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 11-14, 15-18, and Girls 11-14 and 15-18.

Each Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard.  The events in North Carolina count toward the Tarheel Youth Golf Association rankings and South Carolina events will count towards South Carolina Junior Golf Association rankings.  The top-ten finishers in each event will receive points towards the HJGT’s Player of the Year rankings.

In addition to state rankings and Player of the Year points, several events feature AJGA performance based exemptions. All HJGT events in Florida will feature Florida Junior Tour Exemptions (FJT) for division winners. Select tournaments will be ranked by the Golfweek/Titleist Junior Rankings. For 2012, the HJGT will offer three 54 hole events and five major championships.  For more information, please go to our ‘Rankings’ page.  To view the HJGT policies, please click here.

"As a parent of a successful jr. golfer and two time winner on the HJGT, I can tell you that large national tournaments and invitational's are a great way to see the competition, but becoming the best in your region of the country and proving it over and over again on a jr. tour like the HJGT will gain you more recognition, not to mention consistently help you in your national rankings."
