The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour has officially released the first half of the 2013 schedule. The HJGT will visit many of the same great venues from 2012 and has added some new exciting venues as well. The HJGT saw immense growth in 2012 with more than 60 events in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. The tour accommodated more than 2,200 members as of September 24th. The current average field size for a 2012 event was 81 players and the tour had a 0% cancellation rate.
2013 looks to be the most unique and exciting year yet. There are so many additions and upgrades in store for members in the 2013 season. After 5 years of growth the HJGT is branching out to 4 new states, which includes Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. Players will have more than 80 events to choose from during the season.
Here are just some of the new early additions to look forward to as we embark into 2013:
Caddie Events- The HJGT will allow players in all divisions the use of caddies at all Major Championships. Each state will have one major championship plus the year ending tour championship.
Member and Non-Member Pricing- You now do not need to be a member to play in an HJGT event. If you can only play in 1 or 2 events a year you can now register to play in any event as a non-member.
Inaugural Hurricane Cup- The top 12 players from each state will be able to represent their state in a year-end Hurricane Cup. Each state and Intl. squad will battle in a Ryder Cup style event in the beginning of December. More info coming soon!
New Points Structure- Normal events will carry the same weight as they did in 2012. The difference is that college prep series events and 54 hole events will be worth 1.5 times the normal structure and the top 15 will receive points. Majors will be worth double points and the top 20 will be awarded with points.
All State Teams and All HJGT teams- New for 2013, the HJGT will award the top 3 (upper divisions) and top 2 (lower divisions) to their all state team. On top of that the HJGT will also recognize all HJGT teams for top 5 (upper divisions) and top 3 (lower divisions).
More Ranked events- The HJGT will receive more AJGA performance based stars and Golfweek ranked events in 2013. Also the HJGT will continue to award all winners from Florida events with FJT exemptions, players in SC can earn SCJGA points, and players from NC can earn TYGA points.
There will be so much more to be announced as we move into 2013 so check the site often. The HJGT would like to thank all of our members for making 2012 such a huge success and we look forward to serving you in 2013.
