HJGT Set to Host Event in Athens, GA
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will travel to Athens, GA to host the Athens Junior Shootout. The HJGT will be in Athens on the 25th and 26th of August to host this highly anticipated event. The site for this tournament will be the Georgia Club on the Red/Silver Course. Players will definitely be at their best during this tournament, as they will be competing for a large number of exemptions, rankings, and prizes. There will be the highly sought after AJGA performance stars available to winners in both Boys and Girls 15-18 age division. The winners in every division receive an automatic bid to the yearend Tour Championship, South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points, and the event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. If that wasn’t enough already, winners in each division will receive a Bridgestone Golf Wedge, valued at $119. There is plenty at stake to ensure a heightened level of competition.
The Athens Junior Shootout will be played under a stroke play format and will span two days of competition. Each day players will play eighteen (18) holes of golf, to make for a thirty-six (36) hole tournament in total. There will be four separate divisions for competition. Players will be put in divisions based on age and the divisions will be as follows: Boys 15-18, Girls 15-18, Boys 11-14, and Girls 11-14.
The Georgia Club is one of the premier golf resorts in the entire state. This challenging course was masterfully designed by golf course architect Denis Griffiths and includes twenty-seven (27) holes. During the Athens Junior Shootout competitors will be playing the Red Course (9 holes) and the Silver Course (9 holes) each of the two days. These two courses come together to create a quite a test for a golfer of any competency. The courses offer a wide array of teeing options to create various lengths, with the longest being 7,026 yards. The course was designed to be both challenging as well as aesthetically pleasing. The Georgia Club includes very picturesque par threes complimented by the course’s impressive water features. Participants will be sure to find The Georgia Club to be a beautiful course in pristine condition that will test every aspect of a player’s game. The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the southeast, with stops in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
