HJGT Cruises into Kiawah Island

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will be continuing its 2012 season at Cougar Point Golf Course, in Kiawah Island, SC, on February 11 & 12. This course has proved to be an excellent host in the past, and our staff here at the HJGT is certain that Cougar Point will continue to prove to be one of the better courses junior golfers will play on the tour.

The Kiawah Island Jr. Challenge will offer junior golfers an opportunity to play two rounds on a magnificent course. The event will feature 36 holes of competitive golf across four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 15-18 and Girls 11-14. There will also be prizes and rewards up for the taking just like every other HJGT tournament. Premium members will have the opportunity to participate in the Bridgestone Challenge. Junior golfers who have the premium level membership package and win in their respective age divisions will each receive a dozen Bridgestone B330 golf balls, as well as a Bridgestone hat. Secondly, the event will also be ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard. Also at stake are South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage Points (SCJGA) and Tarheel Youth Golf Association Points (TYGA). Winners across all divisions will have the privilege and honor of receiving an automatic bid into the 2012 HJGT Tour Championship.  The championship will be played on December 8 and 9 at the conclusion of the 2012 HJGT season. The HJGT would also like to extend a special promotion to all players new to the tour, any player who has not played in a HJGT tournament before can register for their first tournament for only $99, call the HJGT headquarters for more information!

Cougar Point is one of the more unique courses located in the state of South Carolina.  Having been ranked by the South Carolina Golf Owner’s Association as golf course of the year, Cougar Point is one of the most immaculate courses in the southeast. Also Cougar Point was received 4 &1/2 stars in Golf’s Digest as being one of the “best courses to play.” This area is one of the more prominent areas in South Carolina that offer an exceptional venue for hosting an HJGT tournament event.

"As a parent of a successful jr. golfer and two time winner on the HJGT, I can tell you that large national tournaments and invitational's are a great way to see the competition, but becoming the best in your region of the country and proving it over and over again on a jr. tour like the HJGT will gain you more recognition, not to mention consistently help you in your national rankings."
