Nashville Junior Shootout
March 11-12th, 2017
On, March 11th and 12th 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour continued its spring season at the popular Hermitage Golf Course. Throughout the weekend, there was snow, clouds and sunshine. Players completed two competitive rounds despite the conditions by entertaining spectators with two impressive rounds of golf. Winners in all five age divisions will receive an invitation to the Tour Championship later on this year and the top ten finishers also received points towards the end of the year Hurricane Cup and HJGT teams.
Boys 16-18 Division
In the Boys 16-18 Division Micah Kinsley, from Jefferson City, Tennessee took home the first-place trophy. Kinsley was in second place headed into the second round of the tournament. Kinsley didn’t let that phase him as he shot a tournament low score of 65 on Sunday. Taking home the second-place trophy was Beck Burnette, from Blairsville, Georgia. Burnette was tied for the lead after round one. He continued his consistent play but that was no match for the way Kinsley played. Burnette’s two-day score was 146. Jackson Perry, from Dunwoody, GA was the third- place finisher with a two day score of 147. Kinsley was one of three golfers to shoot below par for the age group on Sunday.
Boys 14-15 Division
In the Boys 14-15 Division Shawn Sehra, from Windsor, Canada was the champion. Sehra took home the trophy after a very competitive one hole playoff against Jeremy Jones. Sehra entered Sunday in second place but stepped his game up and shot a minus 1 on Sunday for a two-day total of 145. Jeremy Jones was the second-place finisher. He played two very consistent rounds for a total of 145. Taking home the third-place trophy was Julian Maxwell. Maxwell played better on Sunday as the conditions improved. His two-day total was 154. Behind Maxwell the next nine golfers were separated by 10 strokes.
Boys 11-13 Division
In the Boys 11-13 Division Cayden Popo, from Lexington, Kentucky played two very consistent rounds despite the weather and took home the first-place trophy. Popo shot a 78 in both rounds for a total of 156. Taking home the second-place trophy was Bo Maradik. Maradik is from Nashville, Tennessee. Maradik made a run on Sunday but it wasn’t enough as his two day total was 159. In third place was Hayden Adams with a total score of 160. Adams and Maradik shot the low scores of the age division with their 77’s on Sunday.
Girls 14-18 Division
Kynadie Adams, from Gallatin, Tennessee was the champion in the Girls 14-18 Division. Adams did not let the course conditions phase her as she shot an impressive 145 to take home the first-place trophy. Adams shot the low round of the age division in the snow on Saturday with her 145. In second place was Shelly Jang, from Franklin, Tennessee. Jang played consistent golf throughout the tournament but it was not enough to over-take Adams. Jang’s two day total was 149. In third place was Caroline Caudill, from Clarkesville, Tennessee. Caudill shot four strokes better on day two but that was not enough as her two day total was 154.
Girls 13U Division
Jinger Heath form Decatur, Alabama was the champion in the Girls 13U Division. Heath improved her first-round score by seven strokes on Sunday with an 83. Her total was 173 over two rounds. Lily Bloodworth, from Hendersonville, Tennessee took home the second place trophy shooting a two day total on 180. Bloodworth improved her score by four strokes on Sunday. Taking home third place was Anne Griffin, from Nashville, Tennessee. Griffin played a very consistent tournament shooting a 94-92-186.
