Bay Area Junior Class
(August 8th-9th 2017)
On August 8th, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled Peacock Gap Golf Club, in San Rafael California. The course was setup fantastically. There were some wet and chilly conditions, but the golfers endured to shoot some low scores. Top finishers from each division will receive points towards year-end honors and an opportunity to play in Florida at the end of the year for the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s National Championships. The HJGT would like to thank the staff at the Peacock Gap Golf Club for providing a beautiful course for the tournament.
The Boys 16-18 winner was Nicholas Klock, who shot a four under par 67 on Tuesday and then followed that with a two over par 73 on Wednesday to give him a total of two under for the weekend. Second place was awarded to Matthew Sanchez who shot one under 70 on Tuesday and four over 75 on Wednesday. Third place was awarded to Max Kleinecke after he shot four over 75 on Tuesday and three over 74 on Wednesday.
The Boys 14-15 was Luke Sturdevant after he shot three over (74) on Tuesday and four over (75) on Wednesday. This gave him a 5 shot victory over the second place winner. Bob Zhu shot 79 on Tuesday and followed that with a 76 on Wednesday. There was a tie for third place with Davis McDowell after he shot ten over (81) on Tuesday and followed that with a five over (76). Davis was tied with Gavin McDonell, who scored 78 on Tuesday and followed it with a 79 on Wednesday.
The Boys 11-13 winner was Joseph Hayden after he shot nine over on Tuesday and followed that with a two over on Wednesday. Niall Shiels-Donegan received second place after he shot a seven over par on Tuesday and followed that with a ten over on Wednesday. Truman Ashforth received third place after he shot a twenty one over par on Tuesday and followed it with an eleven over par on Wednesday.
The Boys U10 winner was Broody Root after he shot a 187 (96-91). This gave him a large margin victory over second place. Dane Pedersen received second place after he shot a 236 (121-115). The HJGT would like to thank both players for a great tournament!

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
