Canongate Series #5
(August 5-6, 2017)
On Thursday, August 4, 2017, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Locust Grove, GA to host the Canongate Series #5 at the Heron Bay Golf Club. Locust gave us some wonderful weather through out the weekend with a heavy but short surprise rain storm. No delay was incurred, and the juniors had battled the hills and hazards at Heron Bay Golf Course.
Logan Perkins of Locust, GA is the Boys 16-18 champion. Henson posted an impressive 67 on Saturday and a 72 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 139. Coming in second was Will Chambless of Culloden, GA who carded a -2 (70) first round and a -1 (71) for the final day for a two-day total of 141. Jackson Lawdor of Peachtree City, GA came in third, posting a 69 on Saturday and a 73 on Sunday for a two-day total of 142. The players had a great time competing against some of the best junior golfers in the country, posting some incredible scores this weekend.
Luke Phillips of Peachtree City, GA is the champion of the Boys 14-15 division. Phillips posted a 69 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday for a 140 two-day total to claim the title. Deven Patel of Johns Creek, GA came in second after finishing with a two-day total of 146 (72-74). Jack Hudson of Roswell, GA and AJ Shaffer both tied for third after finishing with a two day total of 153. The players enjoyed the course and had fun competing in their division.
Will Jones of Alpharetta, GA is the Boys 11-13 champion. After a 76 Saturday, Jones closed strong with a final round of 74 to secure the victory with a two-day total of 150. Marshall Butler of Macon, GA came in second with a total of 153 (81-72). Kyle Bachkosky of Peachtree City, GA finished in third place with a total of 153 (71-82). The boys showed maturity in dealing with the course’s many challenges.
Angela Deng from Marietta, GA is the Girls 14-18 champion. Marietta posted a 76 Saturday and followed that with a sensational 77 on Sunday for a two-day total of 153. Finishing in second was Najae Butler of Atlanta, GA who posted rounds of 80 and 74 to score a total of 154. Thienna Huynh from Lilburn, GA finished in third place with a two-day total of 156 (80-76). The ladies enjoyed their experience and their international competition.
Chaney Duskin of Duluth, GA is the Girls 13 and under champion. Duskin claimed the title after consistently shooting a 104 Saturday and a 104 Sunday for a two-day total of 208. Duskin displayed tremendous fortitude while trekking through the difficult course layout.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
