Battle of the Academies At Hilton Head Lakes
On Saturday and Sunday, October 22-23, 2016, the Hurricane Junior golf Tour hosted t The Hilton Head Junior Shootout at Hilton Head Lakes Golf Club in Hardeeville, SC. The weather for this weekend was finally cool with a nice cold front.. Saturday was very windy with temperatures in the low 70s with clear skies. Sunday morning started out in the low 40s with calm winds and slowly warmed up to the mid-60s in the late afternoon. The tour would like to thank John Michnuk and the outside operations staff for letting us host the tournament at Jilton Head Lakes Golf Club, The 5 junior golfers who battled in the five age divisions displayed great talent and excitement, which made for a suspenseful final round to end the tournament. What made this tournament entertaining was the overwhelming attendance of three different golf academies. Which were: Junior Players Golf Academy (JPGA), International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA), and the Gregg Norman Golf Academy. During this tournament, the junior golfers were playing for JGS rankings, AJGA stars, first place trophies, and an invite to the National Championship that will be held on December 3-4, 2016. This tournament finished with under par scores finishes and full of smiles.
Congratulations to Erik MacDonald from Braintree, MA for winning the Boys 16-18 division title with a -6 finish . He shot a two under 70 and a four under 68 to win by five strokes for a tournament total of 138. Trailing behind by five strokes was Jack P. O’Hara from Loudonville, NY. He shot a 74 and a three under 69 to finish at -1 for a 143 two round total. Finishing in third was Gun Im Kim from North Myrtle Beach, SC. Kim started with a round one 77 and then turned it around to shoot a four under 68. Congrats to Sydney Abruzzino for an amazing win at Hilton Head Lakes Golf Club. She shot a round one 77 and a round two 80 for a tournament total of 157. This win qualifies her for the national championship, which will be held on December 3-4 at , 2016. Look forward to seeing you there, Sydney. In second was Vivian Yen from Taipei. She fell short of the lead by two strokes. She shot a 78 and an 81 for a total of 158. What to put up a battle, Vivian. Rounding out the top 3 was Deanna Confessore from Greenlawn, NY. Congrats to Carlos Garre from Altorreal, Spain for closing out the 14-15 Boys division with an under par finish. Carlos shot a round one three under 69 and a round twoone under par 71 for a total of 140 (-4). Look forward to seeing you at the national championship Carlos and good luck. In second was Fabricio Gaxiola from North Myrtle Beach, SC. He also finish the tournament with an under par total. He started with a round one 73 and backed it up with a round two one under par 71 for a 143 tournament total. Finishing in third was Aidan Bulger from North Myrtle Beach, SC. Congratulations Johnathan Griz from Hilton Head Island, SC for an outstanding finish with a six under par tournament finish. He casually finished round one with a par 72 and theb fired an incredible six under par 66 for a tournament total of 138. Hopefully we can see some more amazing scores from this junior golfer at the National Championship, which will be held in December2-3, 2016. In second was Keenan Royalty from Raleigh, NC. He posted a round one 77 and finished it up with an 82 for a total of 158. Finishing in third was Diego Santolaya. He shot two low 80s scores of 80 and 82 for a total of 162. Girls under 13
Congratulations to Savannah Hylton from Hilton Head, SC for dominating the Girls 13 under division. She shot a round one score of 74 and a round two score of 79 for a tournament total of 153. We can’t wait to see you strut your golf skills at the National Championship, which will be held on December 3-4, 2016. Being the number two ranked girl golfer in the Girls 13 and under division, we look forward to seeing more from her in the near future tournaments to come. About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
