Philadelphia Junior Open

May 13 – May 14, 2017

On Thursday, May 12th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Warminster, PA to host the Philadelphia Junior Open at beautiful Five Ponds Golf Course.  Torrential rain rolled into the area early Saturday morning keeping players off of the course for the day.  Sunday brought far better weather resulting in great play and low scores.  The HJGT would like to thank the entire Five Ponds Golf Course team for providing spectacular conditions even through bad weather.  AJGA performance stars were up for grabs for the champion and top four place finishers of the girls 14 – 18 division.  This field stuck around through a frustrating Saturday and left it all out on the course on Sunday.

Boys 16-18 Division

b16182Thomas Repczynski of Fairfax Station, VA put away the Boys 16 – 18 division with precise play and unwavering concentration. For the one day, 18-hole event, Repcynski posted a score of 70 that edged out the rest of the competition.  Hayden Rousselle of Doylestown, PA brought home the second place trophy posting a score of 74 to finish +3 for the tournament.  Finally, Malvern, PA native, Cole Kemmerer, posted a 75 which was enough for a third place trophy and a +4 score for the open.  This was a tightly contested division that came down to a three very difficult holes on the back nine.  Each competitor helped to ensure a high quality of competition and play for the field.

Boys 14 – 15 Division

b14152George Duangmanee of Fairfax, VA edged out the field in the most exciting way golf has.  After 18 holes, George Duangmanee and Joe Hemsley were in a tie, both posting a score of 79.  At the conclusion of one playoff hole, Duangmanee emerged victorious walking off of the green with a champion trophy in hand.  Second place finisher and Bethesda, MD local, Joe Hemsley, fought hard, posting solid numbers good enough for a trophy and points towards the year-end total.  In third place, posting a round of 84, Cade McLaughlin, solidified himself in the winner’s circle.  The entire field was excited to see this division finish in such an exciting way showing just how competitive this division was.

Girls 14 – 18 Division

g14182This weekend, our Girls 14 – 18 division was emphatically taken by Olivia Patrow of East Stroudsburg, PA.  A pair of birdies to finish out the round ensured a win and championship trophy, and to hold off the stiff competition.  Patrow turned in a score of 75, punching her ticket to the winner’s circle.  Sam Fritzinger from Allentown, PA shot a round of 77 for a second place finish.  Third place was awarded to Brewster, NY local, Caitlin Tully posting a round of 79 for the tournament.  This division was some of the weekend’s tightest competition, only being decided on the last two holes.
