Pittsburgh Junior Shootout,
Glengarry Golf Links – May 13-14
On May 13th and 14th, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour kicked off the first tournament of the summer season. Players from all over Pennsylvania and Virginia made the trip out to Glengarry Golf Links in search of a tournament victory. The first round was met with wet and very light wind conditions which gave players a great chance to turn in a low score. Sunday was met with windy conditions making it a little bit tougher to shoot low. The players brought great attitudes and professionalism to create a competitive atmosphere around the links. The winners of all five of the age divisions will receive an invitation to the Tour Championship later on this year and the top ten finishers also received points towards the end of the year Hurricane Cup.
In the Boys 16-18 division, Adam Rossi of Jefferson Hills, PA secured his first victory on the HJGT with rounds of 67 and 72 for a total of 139. Adam put the pressure on his competitors early by making the turn on Saturday at five under. Even with that great front nine, Adam was accompanied by Otto Voettiner of Haymarket, VA at the end of the round after Otto was able to match Adam with a 67. Otto would settle for a 2nd place finish after shooting a 74 on Sunday for a total of 142. To round out the top 3 finishers was Grant Thiele of Glenshaw, PA. Grant turned in the lowest score on Sunday and ended up shooting 78-70-148 respectively.
