TPC Tampa Bay Junior Shootout
(August 5-6, 2017)
On Friday August 4th the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to the picturesque TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz, FL. After playing two beautiful courses at Doral and Disney World, the Tournament Players Club at Tampa Bay was the perfect place to end this southern swing. Even with two short weather delays on Saturday, the players persevered and the scores certainly showed it!
Michael Beausang of Clearwater, FL, is the Boys 16-18 champion at TPC Tampa Bay. After posting an impressive 72 on Saturday, Michael finished strong in the perfect Sunday weather, shooting a 76 to finish at 6 over 148. Yuzhe Zhang of Winter Garden, FL, finished in clear second with two rounds of 76 for a two day total of 152. Giudo Damien Fraga of Buenos Aires, AR, finished in solo third with a two day total of 154 (77-77). All the boys can be thrilled with their performance in the tough Saturday conditions and walk away with their heads held high.
Logan Hunter of Tampa, FL, is the Boys 14-15 division winner. After a hard fought 88 in the rainy conditions Saturday, Logan showed his character with a sublime 76 on Sunday for a two day total of 164. Sam Fruit of Tampa, FL, finished in second with a two day 166 (82-84). Siddharth Chakravarthy finished in solo third with a two day 172 (80-92). This division had great competition and each players determination was unmatched.
Connor Pope of Tampa, FL, is your Boys 11-13 champion. With consistent rounds of 79 and 75, Connor’s two day 154 was very impressive. Barry Zhang of Lake Mary, FL, finished in second with an equally impressive 155 (78-77). Yige Lin of China finished third with a two day 157 (76-81). The boys had a fun time navigating through the course and showed maturity beyond their years in assaulting its many challenges.
Taylor Dedman of Plant City, FL, is the Girls 14-18 champion. With impressive rounds of 78-75, Taylor’s two day 153 was untouchable. Claire Albrecht of Ormond Beach, FL, and Lisa Marie Rudometkin of San Jose, CA, finished tied for second with 154. Bianca Sol Cruz of Largo, FL finished in solo third with a two day 158 (81-77). The ladies each enjoyed their experience, with some intense competition down the stretch.
Victoria Tan of Kuala Lumpur, MLY, is the Girls U13 champion. Posting near identical rounds of 87-88 her consistency was a major factor. Gracie Mayo of Tampa, FL, came in a strong second with a two day total of 186 (97-89). The girls displayed tremendous fortitude while trekking through the difficult course layout.

About Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
In 2017, The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour announced a partnership with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and Tavistock Group, golfing great Tiger Woods and musician and entertainer Justin Timberlake, which will further our collective goal of growing the game of golf, broadening the Tour’s reach across the U.S. and around the world.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 with the intent of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18, and now 10 and under, an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of six age divisions: Boys 16-18, Boys 14-15, Boys 11-13, Boys U10, Girls 14-18, and Girls U13. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. In 2016, we have now expanded to the west coast and cover California, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon.
